DESNathon is a design competition held annually by the design department at York University. A design prompt is given to the participants where they have to come up with creative solutions within a tight deadline of less than 24 hours. In the fall of 2022, with increasing environmental concerns and declining economic trends, our team of three designers decided to create a product that eases these concerns on an individual scale by helping and encouraging individuals to start micro-farming in house.

PlantU is an app that simplifies the process of growing produce and/or flowers in a confined space. It helps to minimize the need for external research on produce growth requirements, curating ideal produce selection based on the user’s environment, as well as automating the plant growth process through presets and reminders.
